90% of Latin Americans used smartphones to watch Rio 2016

A lot of interest and high consumption rate through mobile devices were some of the characteristics of the Latin American viewership of Rio 2016.

The Olympics in Rio de Janeiro attracted the attention of the world and in Latin America, the numbers showed that this was a unique, attractive and highly digitized event.

According to a study conducted by Livepanel and distributed by BB-Business Bureau, 90% of Latin American viewers watched the Olympics using their cell, that being the most used device to follow the action of Rio 2016.

The Olympics were rated as an event of "high or very high interest" by 54% of the people interviewed, while 88% reported watching content on the Olympics.

According to the study Livepanel, the first 4 days of the event generated the greatest impact on social networks, predominating a positive feeling about the event.

The study was conducted on more than 11,000 panelists located in 10 countries in Latin America (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Puerto Rico).
