Introducing the Monaco World Sports Legends Award

Presented as the Oscars of sports, the ceremony will take place in October 2016 at the Sporting-Salle des Etoiles in Monaco.

The Monaco World Sports Legends Award aims to promote ethical and moral values in sports as ideals for the coming generations and for a better world.

The prestigious prize will be awarded to men and women, sporting champions both active and retired, who have left a mark not only for their sporting exploits becoming true living legends, but also for their social influence by motivating others, especially the young, to excel through a positive message of inspiration and example.

The winners will enter the Pantheon of World Sports Legends.

The 1st edition of the Monaco World Sports Legends Award will take place in the prestigious Sporting-Salle des Etoiles in October 2016 in Monaco.

The Monaco World Sports Legends Awards 2016 will be organized thanks to the support of the structures of the Monaco Government with which we have a close working relationship as Sportel, the Ministry of Tourism and SBM.

Like the actors' Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, with which a future twinning is planned, molds will be made of their handprints, as symbols of man and the whole of mankind.

A particular feature of the concept for the event produced by Promo Art Monte-Carlo Production & Mourad Bouchikhi is that of linking sport with fashion and glamour, making the Monaco World Sports Legends Award a unique international showcase: the Oscars of Sport.

As Monte Carlo has always been a venue for the most prestigious red carpets, stars from American cinema, great world sporting champions and VIPs will be in special attendance.

The official launch of the new Monaco World Sports Legends Award has been held in partnership with Sportel Monaco, organized by the Monaco Government under the patronage of H.S.H. the Prince Albert of Monaco.

The presentation was realized by international ballet star Lorena Baricalla, Ambassadress and Master of Ceremonies of the Monaco World Sports Legends Award, before a parterre of journalists coming from worldwide, as Sportel is the international market of TV rights for sport with the participation of televisions and media from 87 countries.

To support this press conference, great champions attended as guests: Pernilla Wiberg, Alpine Ski Racer twice Olympic Champion, Tia Hellebaut, High Jumping Olympic Champion, Jean-Marie Pfaff, Football Legend.
