The Bundesliga is one of the first top-level leagues in the world to make the leap to the Ultra High Definition. The German Football League (DFL) announced that the new season of the popular German soccer tournament, which will begin in the third quarter of this year, will feature coverage in 4k.
The idea of the DFL is to produce a game per matchday in Ultra High Definition (UHD or 4K) which will be broadcasted nationally by Sky Deutschland.
“The introduction of the UHD technology demonstrates once again the innovative strength of the Bundesliga. We are pleased to be able to provide our live broadcasting rights partners with yet another top product,” said Dr. Holger Blask, Director Audiovisual Rights and responsible for the DFL strategy in this field.
Sky has announced the introduction of two UHD channels including the Ultra-HD-capable receiver Sky+ Pro for the 4th quarter of 2016.
At the international level, multiple channels have shown interest in taking advantage of 4k emissions in the Bundesliga.
