Directv Goes All Out for Rio 2016 Coverage

The coverage will include live broadcasts from Brazil, 6 channels devoted to the event, exclusive HD networks, immediate results and correspondents across the region.

Directv is surprising fans with an exceptional coverage of the sporting event that generates the highest ratings worldwide. Directv will showcase over 10,000 athletes gathered in Rio de Janeiro during August 5-21 for the first South American edition of the Olympics.

"At Directv we will have a 360° experience for all our clients, who will be able to enjoy the best programming, technology and production, which will let them experience the games as if they were in Rio too," said José Espinel, AVP of Marketing Sales at Directv Latin America.

The Directv Sports network will be in charge of providing a coverage suited to an event as big as this one: "We will offer our clients an interactive mosaic with 8 different networks devoted to the Olympics to enjoy the best competitions and follow their favorite athletes. Our studio will be located in front of the Olympic arena, from where we will broadcast all the shows," said Jose "Platao" Rocha, VP of Programming at Directv Latin America.

The Directv Sports team will move to Brazil to roll out this coverage. Along with broadcasts of the competitions, which include two networks devoted 24/7 to the event, the network's shows will have special editions focused on the event. Rio Total with Pablo Giralt will offer debates; Puro Concepto with Juan Pablo Varsky will end each day with analysis and information; and Central Deportivo will show each day's highlights.

Technology is also a major player in this event. Clients will experience all the sports through the interactive mosaic with eight simultaneous screens in HD to follow all the sports, as well as show all the results in each country, recount the medals, calendars and times for all the activities.

The coverage will also be available online on directvsports.net, directvplay.com and Directv Sports APP.
